The Bakers Arms has been a public house since the early 19th century, with two bar areas and a newly refitted restaurant area. The pub retains some beautiful original features, note the attractive contrasting roof tile pattern. The pub has always been a key part of village life, previously sharing the building with the village bakery (hence the name) and less desirably perhaps, with the undertaker! The saloon bar, to the right of the main entrance, shows the full extent of where the original pub used to be. This is a true village local and most of the activity takes place within the public bar.
Our History …
Our history has a much shorter story than the pub … we have both been in the licensed trade for over 20 years, working in various aspects from pubs to restaurants to night clubs and hotels, our most recent venture prior to this is The Saracen’s Head in Little Brington where we took over in May 2018. Some may say we are crazy, however, we lived in Bugbrooke for 4 years until recently and always liked The Baker’s Arms. The opportunity to be part of this pubs long history was one we just couldn’t turn down! We are very much looking forward to The Baker’s Arms becoming the heart of village again. We have modernised the decor of the pub, however we think we have kept it traditional and comfortable and hope you feel the same.
Looking forward to seeing you soon …

We have two distinctly different bar areas, the lounge is still very traditional with two open fireplaces, open stone walls, original beams and comfortable booth seating whilst the main bar has a more modern feel with tiled feature walls, and a newly fitted restaurant area to the end with large leather dining chairs. We welcome dogs in both bar areas. Our Lurcher, Ellie, is sometimes around (she is still a puppy so is still very lively) and is happy to share her treats with well behaved dogs. Bookings can be taken over the phone for the bar area if you would like your dog to accompany you or simply prefer this area.
We offer a delicious selection of seasonal, locally sourced favourites alongside traditional pub classics. Our team of passionate chefs take inspiration from all over the world offering daily specials for those guests that like to try something a little different. We have a well laid out, but intimate restaurant area with a variety of table sizes to accommodate a variety of party sizes. We advise booking to avoid disappointment. Please see our menus section for food and drink menus along with allergen information.
We are also child friendly, with children’s food options available and colouring packs and puzzles to keep them entertained.
We also have an extensive outside area with wooden picnic benches … more improvements to come outside next year!
We are situated on the main road through Bugbrooke, opposite the Baptist Church. The village has good bus links and there are good road links to Northampton, Daventry and the surrounding villages and are located 3 miles from Junction 16 of the M1 and 2 miles from the A5. We are a short walk from the marina in Bugbrooke for those summer months if you are travelling by canal boat.
